Tonight I was inducted into the Rahsaan-formed Fine Dining Club at Paparazzi in Valparaiso. I had eaten there before with a friend and had a wonderful experience. Tonight however, it was something out of a sitcom: not funny to the people in it but most likely hilarious to everyone else.
First, they seated us at this long table right in the middle of the room. RIGHT in the MIDDLE. Where all the door traffic was. We constantly had people walking around us, which was more than distracting. It was downright uncomfortable.
Then, there was more noise than I had anticipated. This wasn’t really the restaurant’s fault, but the time I had been with my friend it was a lot quieter. I don’t like having to yell to hold conversation.
And finally, the icing on the cake. There was a blackout. The restaurant blew a fuse. So here we were, nine of us, eating in the dark. We thought about leaving a couple times, but we’re all too nice of people to do that.
It got hot after awhile. The musician that was going to play for the night just up and left, which I found hysterical. Dine and dash, I’d never done it before. And I really wanted to. At least I had the company of my friends. We’d never laughed so hard at misfortune in all our lives.
The food was good at least.

Today I was thinking how I used to watch Pokemon with my brother and sister. She would tape it, and then after school we would make a point to all watch it together. I’d get so excited about it, wondering what happened to Ash and company while I was in class. I vaguely remember a couple episodes making me cry. I know the first movie did.
I was in high school.
Stuff like that was fun. I used to love watching TV with my siblings, especially before school. Land of the Lost. Mighty Max. Bionic Six. I even think Sailor Moon was on in the morning for awhile. Sitting there on the couch together with our backpacks at our feet we watched, waiting until the last possible minute before we had to leave. It was our time to bond.
I don’t have cable now, and I think I know another reason why. TV just isn’t the same without my brother and sister around.

Shaun has the Wii Fit, and on Friday I gave it a go. The yoga part of it is actually really hard. And if that balance board is any good, then my center of balance is way off.
Mary and I have been talking about taking a yoga class, since there are couple places in Valpo that have them. Now would be a good time. My flexibility sucks hardcore.
Anyhow, Wii Fit… it’s pretty cool. If I actually got a Wii though, I don’t know how long I’d stick with it. Besides, I already have a gym membership and go a few times a week during my lunch hour. (I was good last week and actually went four days!)
Listening to Roger Subirana whom I found on Jamendo. I’ve been lucky enough to stumble across some really good artists lately. Subirana’s work is very light but has this amazing depth to it. It’s breathtaking. I can see him scoring a film with this album.
I’m grateful to have music in my life.

Pure win. If anyone can point me to an mp3 version of the song, please do. The Four Fiends singing techno is just… AWESOME.

A friend of mine has this hope of hooking me up with her friend Rosa. We’re all supposed to be chilling at her house on Saturday to watch the fight and play some Rock Band. I’m not sure how this will go, but all I can do is go in with an open, positive attitude and see what happens.
Sometimes life doesn’t sting at all.
