Great Thai and talk of art.

August 23rd, 2008 Nichole

Mary and I went to eat at Five Star Thai this afternoon after a little bit of shopping. This place is seriously my favorite Thai restaurant, and I’ve been to plenty in Chicago (though the Duck Walk is pretty tasty as well). I love Thai iced tea. I need to learn how to make it on my own so I can have an endless supply.

Anyhow, our server Jillian overheard Mary and I talking about art and told us about a show of sorts that was to be happening in the region very early next year. It was “region themed” meaning anything I could probably snap a picture of in Northwest Indiana, but stemmed more from an activist mindset. She pointed us in the direction of the Local 219 page on myspace for more information.

I’m not a stunning, visual artist by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought I would throw that out there for those people who are. Spread the good word and all that jazz.

In other news, I have a nice smattering of mosquito bites all up my arm. There’s even one on my forehead, which looks rather lovely and pink. Why were mosquitoes even made? To test human will?

Most likely.

1 MORE DAY TO PASS AND THEN D&D OMG YAY.

At the edge of the world… there is D&D!

August 22nd, 2008 Nichole

Life has settled down for us in the geek, game squad.  Thus, we are going to start a new D&D campaign on Monday, fresh and chock-full of version 4 goodness.  I never liked playing gnomes anyway!

Zach will be running the campaign, which should be fun.  I hope Shaun and Brad don’t conspire to sabotage it again.  In retrospect, it was pretty sweet.  We all had fun cheating with the Deck of Many Things.  Oh lord, did we ever.

There will be four other people playing this time around which… I’m not too sure about.  I don’t like role playing with a ton of people only because the sessions get less and less intimate the more chairs you fill at the table.  I think 1 DM and 4 players is plenty.  This time we will have the 1 DM but 7 other people. I sort of hope they all won’t come every single time.  I’m horrible, I know.

I can’t wait.  Seriously.  I fricken cannot wait.

I need to decide what sort of character to make.  Any suggestions, guys?

Day 1 of blogindiana has come to a close.

Who the hell knows what day 2 will have in store for us Region Rats.

Jon, Nathan and I jumped into the after-event networking pool for a little while.  I met up with some fantastic ladies whom I really hope I get to talk with tomorrow as well.  They were really interesting and easygoing.  You know how you get that nice vibe from people you don’t even know sometimes?  Yeah, that’s how I felt with them.

Gen Con was today too, so downtown Indy was a little packed.  We ended up driving back in the direction of our hotel on the west side and ate at a Bob Evans.  Whatever.  It was food and we were fricken hungry.

Sitting in my hotel room talking to Jai because she’s cool like that.  I miss her.  I’d like to go out and visit PA again, but I’m not sure when I could do that.  I can go whenever, but I’m not sure when she can make the time.

Man, this is pathetic.  It’s only 9 and I’m dead tired.  I guess that’s what I get for getting up at 6:30 on a Saturday.

How was blogindiana for you all?

Getting internet social.

August 14th, 2008 Nichole

Thanks in part to the Ruiz brothers, I’m getting more internet social with new accounts in FriendFeed and vi.sualize.us. Both those places are really swank.

I need to start on my Let’s Play videos. Such a nerd.

Softball was fun. Even though we were short people, we only lost by two. It was a valiant effort on our part.

Blogging convention this weekend. We shall see how that goes. And… my phone just beeped. Someone sent me a text, so I guess I better check and see who it was. Ta ta.

Great America is fricken awesome.

August 13th, 2008 Nichole

Yeah.  It is.  Especially when everyone in your party loves torturing themselves on roller coasters.  We had such a great day, and managed to ride everything we wanted to ride.  Pure and total satisfaction.

Oh, how do I love the Raging Bull.  Quite possibly one of the greatest roller coasters ever… especially at night.  The Viper at night was cool too, as was the conversation for my mother’s new ebay business while in line.  Priceless.

Roller coasters win.  Roller coasters win.
